Crochet Dinosaur Head Keychain

Introduction

To ensure you crochet this dinosaur keychain perfectly, here’s a list of abbreviations and stitch terminology used in this pattern:

  • MR: Magic ring
  • Ch: Chain stitch
  • Sc: Single crochet
  • Inc: Single crochet increase
  • Dec: Single crochet decrease
  • BLO: Back loop only
  • FLO: Front loop only
  • Dc: Double crochet
  • Inc(dc): Double crochet increase
  • Dec(dc): Double crochet decrease
  • Ss: Slip stitch

For this project, I used sport weight yarn in green, dark green, gray, purple, black, and white. Other essential tools and materials include a 2.3 mm hook, scissors, pins, needles, stuffing, and a pair of 8 mm safety eyes.

Head

Start with green yarn:

  1. Ch 7, and work stitches on both sides of the foundation chain.

Work in rows, slip stitch into the 1st stitch of each row and chain 2 to start the next row.

  1. Join gray yarn into the 1st remaining loop on round 29, face round 35 towards you and do:
    • Round 1: FLO [Inc(dc), 12 dc] * 3 (42)
    • Round 2: 42 dc (42)
    • Round 3: [Dec(dc), 5 sc] * 6 (36)
    • Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.
  2. Fold and sew row 3 of the mounting part to round 33 of the head.

Nose (x2)

Use green yarn:

  1. Round 1: 6 sc into MR (6)
  2. Round 2: 6 sc (6)
    • Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.

Spike (x2)

Use dark green yarn:

  1. Round 1: 6 sc into MR (6)
  2. Round 2: [Inc, sc] * 3 (9)

    • Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.

Headphone

Part 1

Start with purple yarn:

  1. Embroider the eyebrows with black yarn at round 14.
  2. Embroider the highlight on the side of the eyes with white yarn.
  3. Sew the nose to the head at round 4.
  4. Sew the spikes to the head from round 17 to round 33.
  5. Sew part 2 of the headphone to the head from round 12 to round 20, stuff before closing.
  6. Sew part 1 of the headphone to part 2.
